Captain Brendan Hales is an Instructor in the Defense and Strategic Studies Program. He commissioned through the Army Reserve Officer Training Course at Brigham Young University in 2015. Upon commissioning into the Chemical Corps he served as a Battalion Chemical Officer and HHC XO in 2-43 ADA BN and Hazard Assessment Platoon Leader in 45th Chemical Company at Fort Bliss, TX. Upon completion of Chemical Captains Career Course, he was assigned to 110th Chemical Battalion at Joint Base Lewis-McChord Washington where he commanded 11th Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and Explosive (CBRNE) Company. After completing command he then served as the Group Chemical Officer in 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne) also located at JBLM. Captain Hales hold a Master's Degree from Missouri State University in Defense and Strategic Studies and is in the process of completing a Ph.D. in International Relations from the Fletcher School at Tufts University. Brendan and his wife, Jennie, have three children.
