MAJ Jacob Morris graduated from Saint John’s University in 2012 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History. He commissioned as an Engineer officer and was assigned to the 2nd Brigade Special Troops Battalion, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division, Fort Campbell, KY. In 2014, he deployed to Afghanistan, where he served in Nangarhar and Parwan provinces as a Platoon Leader and Assistant Brigade Engineer Officer. Upon redeploying, Jake attended the Engineer Captains Career Course at Fort Leonard Wood, MO. Jake was then assigned to the 40th Brigade Engineer Battalion, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division, Fort Bliss, TX. There he served as a Battalion S4, HHC Company Commander, and Brigade Engineer. In 2020, Jake began graduate school at North Dakota State University, Fargo, ND, earning an MA in History in 2022. Jake currently serves as an instructor in the Military History division of the Department of History. He is married to Ally and they have a daughter, Elodie, and a son, Jameson.
