CPT Jonas Subaar

CPT Jonas Subaar is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Law and Philosophy at the United States Military Academy

West Point. He earned a B.A. in French and Political Science from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Ghana in 2012. After relocating to the United States

he completed a Master of Public Administration at Savannah State University in Georgia.

Before joining the U.S. Army

CPT Subaar held various civilian roles in the criminal justice system

including positions as a legislative liaison and data management analyst for state and federal law enforcement agencies.

CPT Subaar began his military career in the U.S. Army Reserve

completing Basic Combat Training and commissioning as an Adjutant General Corps officer through Officer Candidate School in 2020. He served as a personnel officer with the 407th Civil and Psychological Affairs Battalion in Arden Hills

Minnesota. In 2021

he earned his Juris Doctor from Mitchell Hamline School of Law and was admitted to the Minnesota State Bar. He transitioned to the Judge Advocate General’s Corps in 2022.

As a Judge Advocate

CPT Subaar has served in multiple legal roles

including Legal Assistance Attorney and Military Justice Advisor at Fort Bliss

TX

Operational Law Attorney during deployment to Poland and Germany with USAREUR-AF

and Trial Counsel for the 2nd Brigade Combat Team

1st Armored Division.

CPT Subaar has been married to his college friend

Juliana

for over a decade. Together

they are the proud parents of a son and daughter.
