West Point currently has several road closures and a lot closure for everyone to know as they drive through Central Area and various parts of the U.S. Military Academy. Below are the road/lot closures for everyone to be aware of over the next few weeks:

  • Williams Road closure: Williams Road (from Buffalo Soldier Field/Thayer Road down to the entrance of South Dock) will be closed all day from July 17-20 to finish road repairs caused by the July 2023 storm.

The goal with this repair is to be able to reopen the road to two-lane traffic. You can still access south dock by driving through the Moat by Building 600 and Thayer Hall.

  • Washington Road closure:  From 7 a.m. to noon on July 18, Washington Road from Stony Lonesome to Ruger Road will be closed as crews work to replace the retaining wall that was washed out during the July 2023 storm.
  • On July 20, around 12:15 p.m., be aware the West Point Military Police will be escorting the "Rolling Thunder" Motorcycle Club through West Point. They will enter through Washington Gate, pass Trophy Point and exit through Thayer Gate.

There will be no stops on the installation, and the ride will take approximately 10 minutes to complete. Please plan your travel accordingly, as there may be temporary traffic disruptions.

  • Howze Road closure: Beginning July 26 through Aug. 2, Howze Place (from Stony Lonesome Road along the west side of Michie Stadium to Mills Road) will experience temporary or full lane closures for the installation of new stadium lights.

When the road is closed to all lanes, vehicles must drive to the north end of post by Trophy Point and over to Thayer Road to reach the Thayer Gate area.

    Closure times: July 26, one-lane traffic (7 a.m.-noon), July 29, closed to traffic (7 a.m.-midnight), July 30, closed to traffic (midnight-6 p.m.), July 31, one-lane traffic (7 a.m.-6 p.m.), Aug. 1, one-lane traffic (7 a.m.-6 p.m.) and Aug. 2, closed to traffic (7 a.m.-6 p.m.).

  • Clinton Lot closure: Starting July 15 through Aug. 16, there will be no parking or traffic through Clinton Lot. Employees can use surrounding area parking. Thank you for your patience as crews work to repair and repave Clinton Lot.
