James I. O'Neill High School took on General Brown High School from Dexter, N.Y., for the 2022 Class C NYSPHSAA football championship Saturday at JMA Wireless Dome in Syracuse, N.Y.
O'Neill HS, which fields West Point, Highland Falls and Garrison community members, scored 16 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to win the state title, 29-14.
Senior quarterback and defensive back Nick Waugh completed 14 of 18 passes for 261 yards and two touchdowns.
Senior running back and defensive end Jordan Thompson finished with 129 yards on the ground and two touchdowns.
Senior slot back Jadon Spain (above left) caught five passes for 128 yards and a touchdown.
Junior wide receiver, defensive back and kicker Marek Arbogast nailed a 29-yard field goal to give O'Neill a 16-14 lead in the fourth quarter.
He would also score on a 72-yard reception and intercepted a pass late in the game to seal the victory.
