U.S. Military Academy Dean of the Academic Board Brig. Gen. Cindy Jebb salutes former President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s grave during the commemoration of FDR’s 139th birthday Jan. 29 in Hyde Park, N.Y.
U.S. Military Academy Dean of the Academic Board Brig. Gen. Cindy Jebb places a Presidential Wreath on the behalf of President Joseph R. Biden and flowers at the foot of former President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s gravesite during the commemoration of FDR’s 139th birthday Jan. 29 in Hyde Park, N.Y.
The wreath laying ceremony is an annual event that takes place in the rose garden at the Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum. However, the celebration was scaled down this year due to the pandemic. FDR entered the presidency at the height of the great depression and led the country during World War II. Roosevelt was president from 1933-45 and died during his unprecedented fourth term in office.
West Point participates in the celebration every year as the representative of the current president. To view this year’s ceremony and Jebb’s remarks on FDR, visit the FDR Presidential Library and Museum Facebook page.
