USMA contingent travels to Hyde Park to honor FDR

U.S. Military Academy Dean of the Academic Board Brig. Gen. Shane Reeves (left) salutes former President Franklin D. Rooseveltʼs grave during the commemoration of FDRʼs 140th birthday Sunday in Hyde Park, N.Y. The wreath laying ceremony is an annual event that takes place in the rose garden at the Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum. FDR entered the presidency at the height of the Great Depression and led the country during World War II. Roosevelt was president from 1933-45 and died during his unprecedented fourth term in office. 

U.S. Military Academy Dean of the Academic Board Brig. Gen. Shane Reeves (right) places a Presidential Wreath on the behalf of President Joseph R. Biden in honor of former President Franklin D. Rooseveltʼs 140th birthday Sunday in Hyde Park, N.Y. Reeves also made remarks during the event on the importance of Rooseveltʼs presidency that still has a positive affect on the nation today.      Also in attendance from West Point were (above) the U.S. Corps of Cadets 2nd Regiment Staff and Color Guard, the West Point Military Police Honor Guard and Staff Sgt. Judy Gaunt and Master Sgt. William Calohan from the USMA Band.      

The U.S. Corps of Cadets 2nd Regiment Staff and Color Guard (top left) performed honor guard duties, the West Point Military Police Honor Guard (left) provided salutory volleys, Staff Sgt. Judy Gaunt and Master Sgt. William Calohan from the U.S. Military Academy Band (top right) played Taps while Dean of the Academic Board Brig. Gen. Shane Reeves (above) made remarks during the ceremony honoring former President Franklin D. Rooseveltʼs 140th birthday Sunday in Hyde Park, N.Y.
