The Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation (FMWR) hosted its annual holiday tree lighting ceremony for the West Point community on Dec. 4 at the Post Exchange.

With the tree lighting as the centerpiece of the evening, FMWR provided plenty of festivities for adults and children to enjoy with musical performances by the West Point Band Brass Quintet, West Point Middle School Choir, and cadet and community choir singers. The children were greeted with a visit from Santa and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer while Santa also met with each child and gave them each a candy cane and a goody bag.

The West Point Fire Department provided cookies to the community and the West Point Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers provided a free tree to families through the Trees For Troops program.

The community was welcomed by new U.S. Army West Point Garrison Commander, Col. Travis Robison, who kicked off the evening’s holiday celebration.
