Cadet Selected As National Science Foundation Fellow

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship Program has chosen West Point Cadet Saleem Ali, Class of 2024, to pursue a degree following graduation in May. The program recognizes and supports outstanding graduate students in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics disciplines who are pursuing research-based graduate degrees at accredited United States institutions.
The National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship Program, the oldest graduate fellowship of its kind, has a long history of selecting recipients who achieve high levels of success in their future academic and professional careers. The reputation of the GRFP follows recipients and helps them become life-long leaders that contribute significantly to both scientific innovation and teaching.

About the Fellow
Cadet Saleem Ali is a Mathematical Sciences major with Honors from Westbury, New York. He is a part of the Chinese Language and Culture Association and Company Orienteering. At West Point, Ali has become interested in researching computational fluid dynamics, particularly in relation to groundwater contamination, flooding, and hypersonics. He plans to become a Foreign Area Officer to combine regional expertise with artificial intelligence. In the future, Ali hopes to create a software company that specializes in high-accuracy modeling of fluid dynamics.
“Being granted this fellowship reaffirms my responsibility to serve,” said Cadet Ali. “Through my research, I am empowered to contribute to society, tackling pressing challenges and aiming to leave the world more informed and better cared for than I found it."
