WEST POINT, N.Y. – Lieutenant Col. Rance A. Lee, Director of Admissions at the U.S. Military Academy and a Class of 1997 graduate, was promoted to Colonel during a ceremony in the Haig Room, Jefferson Hall, Wednesday, June 26.

Lee received a Bachelor of Science degree from U.S. Military Academy at West Point and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. He has been a part of the Department of Admissions since 2016, and he is the Officer Representative for Army West Point Track and Field and Cross-Country team.

“It’s the honor of a lifetime to be selected as West Point’s director of admissions,” Lee said. “It will allow me to keep doing what I really love, which is talking about the academy and getting folks to see the great opportunity that West Point and the Army provides to the sons and daughters of our country.”

A native of Pittsburgh, Pa., Lee served as a commissioned officer in the Corps of Engineers and spent the past 27 years serving in various locations around the world, including Hawaii, Korea, Kentucky, and the Pentagon. Lee served combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan where he earned two Bronze Star Medals.

He was a four-year letterman for both indoor and outdoor track teams at West Point. Lee captained the men's indoor track team and finished as a seven-time Patriot League track champion in the 800 meters and various relays. He helped the indoor and outdoor track and field teams to garner eight Patriot League team titles and a combined record of 9-0 against service academy rivals Navy and Air Force.

His wife Alma Kovaci Lee is the head coach of the Army West Point Women’s Volleyball Team.
