WEST POINT, N.Y. – The U.S. Military Academy will hold its inaugural Honorable Leadership Week, an entire week of activities dedicated to enhancing cadet, faculty and staff intellectual development.

Monday, Sept. 16-20
Branch Week: An opportunity for cadets to talk and ask questions with representatives of all seventeen Army branches. Soldiers from around the Army bring displays, such as tanks, helicopters, missile systems to show cadets the types of equipment and branching opportunities available to them upon graduation. We changed the process a bit and the new branching model is called the Market Model. It is very similar to the medical matching model that “matches” residents to hospitals. The algorithm they’re using won a Nobel Peace Prize in 2012 and we basically rewrote that algorithm to work for branching cadets.

Friday, Sept. 20
Zengerle Lecture Series: 12:35 – 1:50 p.m. keynote speaker former Chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff retired Gen. Martin E. Dempsey.

Army Hall of Fame Dinner: The Class of 2019 features former head wrestling coach Lloyd Appleton, cross country and track and field standout Mike Bernstein, gymnastics star Carl Brunson, track and field great Dennis Trujillo and two-sport standout Mortimore (Bud) Sprague.

Saturday, Sept. 21
58th Annual Buffalo Soldier Wreath Laying Ceremony: 9-11 a.m. Recognition to honor the Buffalo Soldiers, 9th and 10th Cavalries, that served at West Point from 1907-48 and trained cadets in horsemanship. Special announcements will be part of the Army vs Morgan State game – parade & half-time show.
