Cadet Georgia Jones

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Cadet Georgia Jones was named a Southampton Scholar following her graduation this May. The Southampton-West Point Scholarship was established in 2019 to deepen United States–United Kingdom cooperation and to facilitate the development of high-performing, thoughtful, and culturally competent leaders for the Army.

About the Southampton Scholar

Cadet Georgia Jones, Class of 2024, grew up in Mont Vernon, N.H. and is a Law and Legal Studies Major at the United States Military Academy. Her academic interests center around the intersection between law, human rights, and the environment. At West Point, she leads the Human Rights Initiative and is the Brigade Energy and Environmental Officer for the Corps of Cadets. Here, she works to make West Point a greener place and instill environmental and community stewardship in her peers. Inspired by her trip to Ghana last summer, she has focused on children’s rights to a healthy environment. Jones will branch Engineers and ultimately pursue a career in the US Army Corps of Engineers’ Environmental Management Program after completing a Master of Science degree in Environmental Consultancy at the University of Southampton.

“I am honored to receive the Southampton-West Point Scholarship and am grateful for the opportunity to study environmental consultancy,” said Jones. “I look forward to reaffirming my commitment to protecting the environment and human rights while I serve as an officer in the United States Army.”
