West Point Hosts Numerous Spring Events

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The public is invited to join the West Point community and enjoy some of the exciting events planned this weekend. 

Friday, April 26 

  • All-Day Sandhurst Military Skills Competition Hosted by West Point since 1967, 48 teams, including 17 international teams, 16 ROTC teams, ten U.S. Military Academy company teams, and five U.S. service academy teams, will compete in a rigorous 36-hour course to test warrior spirit, cohesion, and dedication to mission accomplishment. At the end of the competition, one team will be crowned the Sandhurst champion. The winner is selected based on each team’s performance in 15 different events testing physical fitness, military skills, teamwork, and leadership.  
  • 8:30-3:15 p.m. Men’s Tennis Patriot League Quarterfinals.

  • 4:30 p.m. Army vs Navy Baseball at Doubleday field. Non ticketed event free of charge.  

  • 7-10 p.m. West Point Brew Fest. Join us for Brew Fest at the West Point Club, where local brewers and cider mills compete to offer you the best beer & cider in the Hudson Valley! Enjoy food and live music by DJ Bo Hannan! Register Here: 

Saturday, April 27 

  • All-Day Sandhurst Military Skills Competition. Hosted by West Point since 1967, 48 teams representing 14 U.S. Military Academy teams, 16 Reserve Officer Training Corps, ROTC, programs, three U.S. service academies, one U.S. Military Academy Preparatory School team, and 17 international teams will compete in a rigorous 36-hour course to test warrior spirit, cohesion, and dedication to mission accomplishment. At the end of the competition, one team will be crowned the Sandhurst champion. The winner is selected based on each team’s performance in 15 different events testing physical fitness, military skills, teamwork, and leadership.  
  • 10-2 p.m. Men’s Tennis Patriot League Semifinals.

  • 12 p.m. Army vs Navy Baseball at Doubleday field. Non-ticketed event free of charge.  

  • 12 p.m. Army vs Lehigh softball doubleheader at the Softball Complex. Non-ticketed event free of charge. 

Sunday, April 28 

  • 11 a.m. Men’s Tennis Patriot League Championships 

  • 12:30-5p.m. The U.S. Military Academy will host its 39th Military Tattoo on the Plain. This tattoo brings together numerous performance groups, both civilian and military, to pay homage to the rich military traditions of Pipes and Drums. Come enjoy a day of performances from 17 bagpipe bands, two dance groups, the U.S. Corps of Cadets Drill Team, and the Hellcats from the West Point Band. The event is free and open to the public. In case of adverse weather, this event will be held at the Eisenhower Hall. 

  • 12 p.m. Army vs Lehigh softball at the Softball Complex. Non-ticketed event free of charge.

  • 1 p.m. Army vs Navy Baseball at Doubleday field. Non-ticketed event free of charge.

All visitors should enter the installation using either Thayer or Stony Lonesome Gates.  Proper identification will be required upon entering academy grounds, and all vehicles are subject to search.  Please adhere to the speed limits while on post.
