Football rolls past Tulsa, 49-7

TULSA, Okla. -- The Army West Point Black Knights (5-0, 4-0 AAC) rolled past the Tulsa Golden Hurricane (2-4, 0-2), 49-7, on a hot and sunny day Oct. 5 in the Oklahoma Plains. 

Senior quarterback Bryson Daily accounted for four touchdowns (two passing and two rushing), passing a perfect 5-for-5 for 140 yards, while adding 110 yards on the ground.  

Daily was aided by slot back Noah Short, who totaled three receptions for 121 yards and two touchdowns and running back Kanye Udoh, who rushed for 137 yards and two rushing scores.  

As the final whistle blew, Army extended its nation-leading winning streak to nine and secured its first 5-0 start since 1996. 

The Black Knights outgained the Golden Hurricane 481-268 for the game, including 321-159 on the ground.

GAME NOTES:  

Carrying the Flag: Junior wide receiver Liam Fortner led the team out with the Black Flag.  

DIVISION OF THE GAME: Army honored the 1st Infantry Division with a logo decal on the players helmets and coaches' headsets. The 1st Infantry Division (1ID) is a combined arms division of the United States Army and is the oldest continuously serving division in the Regular Army. It has seen continuous service since its organization in 1917 during World War I and it was officially nicknamed "The Big Red One".  

  • This is Army's second-longest winning streak under Jeff Monken, only trailing winning 10 in a row between the 2018-19 seasons. 
  • Army's 5-0 start is only its fourth since 1950 (1950, 1985, 1996).  
  • Army's 49 points scored was the most scored this season and the most since putting up 57 against Delaware State in September 2023. 
  • Quarterback Bryson Daily tossed two touchdown passes, the third multi-passing touchdown game of his career.  
  • Daily has rushed for over 100 yards in four consecutive games.  
  • For the third time this season, Army had two 100-yard rushers in the same game (Udoh, 137 and Daily, 110).   
  • Army has logged over 400 yards of total offense in every game this season.  
  • Noah Short logged touchdown receptions of 37 yards and 58 yards in the first half. Short has three receiving touchdowns this season and five for his career.  
  • Short registered a career-best 121 receiving yards while tabbing his first career multi-touchdown effort. It was his second career 100-yard receiving performance. Short became the 14th Army player to record multiple 100-yard receiving games in their career.  
  • Udoh rushed for a career-high 137 yards and two rushing touchdowns on just six carries, his second career multi-touchdown game. Udoh has rushed for 100 yards in back-to-back games.  
  • Udoh had two touchdown runs over 60+ yards becoming the first Army player since Christian Anderson (2021 vs. Miami (OH) with multiple 60+ yard touchdown runs in the same game. It is the fifth such performance from a Black Knight since 1999. 
  • It is also the second fewest carries in program history to reach the 130-yard mark, trailing only Rollie Stichweh's 149 yards on four carries against the Citadel on 9-19-1964.
  • It is the first time since at least 1995 in which Army has had multiple 100+ yard rushers and a 100+ yard receiver. 
  • Army is the only team in the country to score an opening-drive touchdown in each game this season.
