For the first time in program history the Army West Point men's lacrosse team is ranked No. 1 in the country.

Army is off to its best start since 1984, opening the year 6-0. The 1984 team was a special one, eventually making it to the NCAA Tournament semifinals.

The Black Knights are coming off an 18-8 win at home against Holy Cross that saw Gunnar Fellows score four goals and tack on one assist.

The Inside Lacrosse Media Poll saw the Black Knights at No. 1 receiving 22 of the 27 first-place votes.

The USILA Coaches Poll had the Cadets at No. 1 as well, picking up 16 of 22 first-place votes.

Based off current rankings, Army has wins over No. 6 Syracuse and No. 19 Rutgers, both of which came on the road.

The Black Knights face off with Lehigh at noon on March 16 at Michie Stadium.
