West Point families, faculty, coaches and staff hosted the Class of 2027 for New Cadet Visitation Day, also known as the “Ice Cream Social,” July 16 at the U.S. Military Academy. It was an opportunity for approximately 1,250 new cadets to learn more about their hosts, relax and reconnect with loved ones.
This storied tradition also marks the completion of Cadet Basic Training I, the halfway point for CBT, a significant milestone for these new cadets. While the new cadets were putting their etiquette classes to the test in various homes on West Point and in the surrounding communities, the CBT I cadet cadre officially ended their summer leadership detail and handed over their responsibilities to the CBT II leadership cohort.
But there's no time to rest just yet.
The new cadets returned to their respective companies and now dive back into three more weeks of intensive training during CBT II, spending much of their time training at Camp Buckner.
