MAJ Nicholas J. DiLandro

Major Nicholas J. DiLandro is a native of Smithsburg, MD. From 2010 – 2014, Major DiLandro attended Towson University where, as a member of the University’s Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC), he received his commission and graduated with a Bachelors of Science in History with Honors. He graduated as a Distinguished Military Graduate.

Following graduation, Major DiLandro attended the Infantry Basic Officer Leaders Course (IBOLC) in the fall of 2014. His first assignment was at Fort Campbell, Kentucky with the 1-33rd Cavalry Squadron, 3rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne (Air Assault), where he served as a Platoon Leader. MAJ DiLandro deployed to Kandahar, Afghanistan as part of Task Force Rak-Solid and served as Quick Reaction Force Platoon Leader and Ground Defense Area Platoon Leader. Major DiLandro transferred to Shadow Troop, 1-33rd Calvary Squadron after redeployment to serve as Troop Executive Officer. In 2018, Major DiLandro was selected to serve as the 101st Airborne (Air Assault) Pre-Ranger Officer in Charge where he trained prospective Ranger students and coached the U.S. Army Reconnaissance team during the 2018 Canadian Patrol Competition.

In November of 2019, Major DiLandro attended the Military Intelligence Captain’s Career Course (MICCC), Fort Huachuca, AZ . After MICCC, he was assigned as the Brigade AS2 for the 2d Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division in El Paso,Texas. MAJ DiLandro deployed to Kuwait as part of Operation Spartan Shield. Upon redeployment, MAJ DiLandro assumed command of D CO, 40 BEB where his Company executed Operation Allies Welcome, the resettlement of 11,000 Afghan Refugees, and won the MG Dillard Award for best MICO in FORSCOM. Following command, Major DiLandro served as the Aide de Camp to the Commanding General of 1st Armored Division.

Major DiLandro holds a Master’s of Business and Administration from Georgetown University. His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal (3OLC), Army Achievement Medal (1OLC), Humanitarian Service Medal, National Defense Service Ribbon, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Afghan Service Ribbon, Overseas Ribbon, NATO Medal, Army Service Ribbon, and the Expert Infantryman Badge. Major DiLandro is a graduate of Ranger School, Reconnaissance Surveillance Leader's Course, Airborne School, Pathfinder School, Air Assault School, Fast Rope Insertion and Extraction Course, and Rappel Master Course.

Major DiLandro is currently an instructor at the United States Military Academy for MX400 Officership – The Superintendent’s Capstone Course at the Simon Center for the Professional Military Ethic.
