MAJ Nicholas A. Rich was born in Washington, D.C. He received his commission via ROTC and holds a B.A. from Mount Saint Mary's University, Maryland, and a master's degree in sociology from the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs.
After Logistics BOLC, he served in 4BCT and 2BCT, 82nd Airborne Division, holding Platoon Leader, Executive Officer, and Support Operations Deputy roles in both 2-325th Airborne Infantry Regiment and the 407th Brigade Support Battalion. He deployed in support of Operation Inherent Resolve and the liberation of Mosul from ISIS as the Support Operations Deputy in 2016-2017. MAJ Rich then served in 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne) "The Originals" as the 3rd Battalion S4 and Forward Support Company Commander, 3rd Battalion, 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne).
MAJ Rich transitioned from the Logistics branch to Strategic Military Intelligence in 2024 and married his wife Amy in 2015. Thet have two dogs named Elly and Tucker.
