History
Lieutenant Colonel Paul N. Belmont III received his B.A. from the Virginia Military Institute in May of 2000. He received his M.A. in American History from James Madison University in 2010.
He is a graduate of the Infantry Basic Officer Leader Course, the Quartermaster Basic Course, the Leaders Maintenance Course, the Quartermaster Advanced Course, and the Command and General Staff College. He served as a Platoon Leader, Company XO, Maintenance and Supply & Services Officer with 240th QM, 71st CSSB, and 7th CSG, deployed to the Invasion of Iraq in 2003. He also served with the 10th Mountain Division as a Forward Support Company Commander in 2-10 Aviation from ’05-‘07 with a deployment to Afghanistan and the Division Commander’s Aide from ‘07-’08.
He joined the USMA History Department after grad school ‘10-’13, producing two publications and earned promotion to Assistant Professor. he then returned to the 10th MTN DIV from ’13-‘15 serving with the 3rd and 1st BCTs with a third combat deployment to Afghanistan.He next served with the Defense Coordinating Element to FEMA Region III from ’15-’18 where he supported Defense Support to Civil Authorities ISO of several National Special Security Events: the 2015 Papal Visit to Washington DC and Philadelphia, the 2016 Nuclear Security Summit, three State of the Union Addresses, The Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia, and the 58th Presidential Inauguration.
Paul also deployed ISO of several major disasters, 2016 Flooding in West Virginia, Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma and supported National Level Operations ISO Hurricane Maria and has remained a member of the department of History teaching courses in American and Military History since 2018.
