
LTC Shoshannah B.J. Lane
Assistant Professor
A native of South Jersey, Lieutenant Colonel Shoshannah B.J. Lane graduated from the United States Military Academy in 1999 and received her commission as a Second Lieutenant in the Aviation Branch. She holds an MA in German from Middlebury College, an MS in Supply Chain Management from the University of Kansas, and a PhD in German and Second Language Acquisition from Georgetown University.
She has served in a variety of tactical positions in the 4th Infantry Division (Mechanized), 25th Infantry Division (Light), and 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault). She also served as the Strategic Outreach Officer for the Chief of Staff of the Army in the Pentagon. She most recently commanded the 46th Aviation Support Battalion, 16th Combat Aviation Brigade, 7th Infantry Division. LTC Lane deployed three times to Iraq and Afghanistan in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (2003-2004 and 2006-2007) and Operation Enduring Freedom (2012-2013). She currently teaches German as an Academy Professor (FA47) in the Department of English and World Languages at the United States Military Academy.
LTC Lane’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Air Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, the Iraq and Afghanistan Campaign Medals, the Global War on Terror Expeditionary Medal, the Global War on Terror Expeditionary Medal, the Combat Action Badge, the Senior Aviator Badge, the Army Parachutist Badge, the Air Assault Badge, and the German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge in Gold.
LTC Lane and her husband, LTC Connie Lane, live at West Point, New York, where they are raising their beautiful daughter.
