Acceptance Day – Welcoming the Class of 2029

Acceptance Day is one of the most meaningful milestones in a West Point cadet’s journey. On this day, the Class of 2029 is officially accepted into the Corps of Cadets, marking the end of Cadet Basic Training and the beginning of their full integration as plebes.

  • Date:  Aug. 16, 2025
  • Parade Time: TBA
  • Location: The Plain at West Point

The Acceptance Day Parade is a powerful and symbolic event featuring the entire brigade of approximately 4,400 cadets. The ceremony begins with the new cadets marching out separately from their future companies. At a defining moment during the parade, an order is given for the companies to open ranks, allowing the new cadets to step in and officially join the Corps.

This moment represents the transition from new cadet to plebe and is a proud and emotional experience for both cadets and their families.

Family Time After the Parade
After the parade concludes, your plebe will be released to spend time with you within the designated Walking Area for the weekend. They must report back on Sunday, but in the meantime, you’ll have the opportunity to reconnect, celebrate, and hear firsthand about their summer training experience.

Walking Area: Walking privileges are defined as a 20-mile radius from West Point. The boundaries for walking privileges are the following: North - Buttermilk Falls Inn & Spa (West Side of Hudson) and Holiday Inn Express Poughkeepsie (East Side of Hudson); South - Interstate 287; East Interstate 84 and Interstate 684 Interchange; West - Town of Goshen.
