CPT Joe Kearney is an Engineer Officer and Instructor in the Department of Systems Engineering. He earned a Bachelor of Science from University of Dayton, and a Master’s of Business Administration (MBA) as a Tauber Institute of Global Operations fellow from University of Michigan, Ross School of Business.


CPT Kearney commissioned as an Engineer Officer from University of Dayton Fighting Flyers ROTC program in December 2014. He served as a Route Clearance Platoon Leader, Sapper Platoon Leader and Executive Officer in the 1st Stryker BCT, 1st Armored Division (Fort Bliss). CPT Kearney served as a Project Manager in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineer’s (USACE) Technical Development Program (TEC-DP) from 2018-2019 assigned to USACE St. Paul District, working on the Upper Mississippi River Navigation Project.


After completing the Engineer Captain’s Career Course, CPT Kearney served as an Operations Officer with the 9th Brigade Engineer Battalion, 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division with a rotation to Operation Atlantic Resolve. CPT Kearney then served as an Armored Sapper Company Commander (Assassin Company – 9th BEB, 2ABCT, 3ID, Fort Stewart) from 2021-2022. CPT Kearney is a graduate of Air Assault School and holds Project Management Professional (PMP) certification. CPT Kearney is married to wife (Sara) and have two children, JJ (2 years) and Sophie (newborn).
