WEST POINT, N.Y. – Army West Point Wrestling's Ethan Berginc capped off a team second-place finish at the Black Knight Invitational with a title in the 133-pound weight class on Nov. 24 at Christl Arena.

Berginc, who entered the day as the No. 1 seed in his weight class, defeated Gardner-Webb's TK Davis in the final. A rematch from Army's dual win in the Throwdown on the Yorktown on Nov. 8, the junior won 9-6 by decision in a match decided in the final period.

The Jeannette, Pennsylvania, native was 4-0 overall on the day. An opening-round win over Kyison Garcia of Penn State set the tone for an 11-5 decision over Andrew Hampton of Michigan State and a 10-1 injury default victory over Columbia's Boris Witmer.

The Black Knights finished with a team score of 130.5, second overall behind only Penn State, and nearly 50 points ahead of third-place Michigan State. Army placed ahead of Big Ten participants MSU and Rutgers. Columbia, Gardner-Webb, LIU, Binghamton and Bloomsburg rounded out the event, held across six mats.

Charles Farmer (125 pounds) and Gunner Filipowicz (165 pounds) — both No. 2 seeds in their respective weight classes — fell in their respective finals to top-seeded wrestlers from Penn State.

Rich Treanor (141 pounds), Dakota Morris (157 pounds), Dalton Harkins (174 pounds) and Brady Colbert (285 pounds) each finished in third place. Braden Basile (141 pounds) and Cooper Haase (174 pounds) followed in fourth, Trae McDaniel (149 pounds) and Wolfgang Frable (197 pounds) placed fifth and Caleb Uhorchuk (125 pounds) slotted in sixth.

Mason Barvitskie (149 pounds) and Colbert both recorded two wins by fall, while Filipowicz, Haase and Andrew Christie (184 pounds) each recorded a pair of bonus point wins, and Frable won three times by major decision.
