Army West Point women's tennis (8-4) took down service academy rival Air Force (1-5) 4-1 as part of USTA College Match Day on Feb. 17 from Lake Nona, Florida.
With the win, head coach Paul Peck moved into first place with 543 wins on Army's all-time wins list as a head coach at the academy. Peck, in his 29th season at the helm of the Black Knights, has amassed an overall record of 543-251 while guiding Army to 16 NCAA Tournament appearances and 16 Patriot League titles across his tenure. He surpassed legendary Army hockey coach Jack Riley, who had an overall record of 542-343-20 in 36 seasons at the helm of the hockey program at West Point. The match began with the first two doubles teams splitting, as Jenna Sabile and Julia Kelly secured a 6-3 victory on court two for the Black Knights. After falling behind 3-0, the duo of Isabella Brilliant and Paulina Feoli came back for a thrilling 6-4 win on court three to secure the crucial doubles point for Army. Jackson dominated her singles matchup on court one, cruising to a (6-2, 6-4) victory while Air Force made it a 2-1 affair with a win on court three. With three other Black Knights winning the first set, Army put itself in position to close out the contest. Finishing just seconds apart, Emma Sy got the win on flight five (6-2, 6-1) while Vennmukiil Mathivanan clinched the victory for the Black Knights on court six with a (6-2, 6-0) showing.
