The red-hot Army West Point club hockey Black Knights of the American Collegiate Hockey Association avenged their only loss of the season on Jan. 22 by defeating Sacred Heart, 5-3, at Martire Arena in Fairfield, Connecticut.

The victory resulted from a 3-1 deficit and extended Army West Point's winning streak to 10 games -- a stretch that began after its 5-1 loss to Sacred Heart on Oct. 29. The cadets improved to 15-1 overall and 9-1 in the Super East Collegiate Hockey League (SECHL).

Sophomore forward Caleb Kaiser scored West Point's first goal and added two assists for a team-high three points. Four other forwards scored in the comeback -- freshman Brad Mackin, junior Matt Moellering, senior Nick Liebers and sophomore Erich Marschall. Senior goalie Chris Eno was strong in net, stopping all the shots he faced in the third period, including several critical saves during a 5-on-3 Army penalty-kill late in the game.

Army’s victory over Sacred Heart came two days after a 15-4 rout over Central Connecticut State University (CCSU) in Newburgh, New York. Freshman forward Charles Aronov paced Army with four goals and seven points against CCSU. Senior forwards James Delia and Austin Federici each had two goals along with forward Marschall. Kaiser had a team-high four assists, and Aronov, freshman Bobby Staring and sophomore forward Ben Gaucher each had three helpers in the win over CCSU.
