The West Point Parachute Team participated in the National Collegiate Parachuting Championships and skydive training from Dec. 19-Jan. 2 in Elsinore, Calif.

The 29 cadets and staff members completed 827 jumps while training without any malfunctions or serious injuries.

The team competed in individual and team accuracy, two-way relative work, four-way relative work and six-way speed, taking home 32 medals from the championships.

The WPPT took first, second and third place in individual and team accuracy in the intermediate and novice categories. Several cadets had a perfect score in three of the four rounds.

In relative work, the team took first and third place in two-way relative work and second place in vertical relative work.

In six-way speed, Team West Point Rolling Stones placed third.

The four-way relative work was limited by weather and time, but even with only two of six rounds complete, the teams had enough points for a second- and third-place finish.

Unfortunately, due to the weather delays, it meant the team was unable to compete in the final event of the competition — four-way formation skydiving.

The West Point Parachute Team earned three gold medals including one in individual novice accuracy won by Class of 2023 Cadet Kai Burgman, one in team accuracy and a victory in two-way formation skydiving by Burgman and Class of 2024 Cadet Stephen Keyes.
