WEST POINT, N.Y. – West Point’s annual Emergency Preparedness Fair will take place Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Post Exchange parking lot to provide the public and the West Point community with information regarding emergency and disaster preparedness.

The participants will have static displays of emergency equipment, will provide demonstrations of their capabilities and informational hand-outs and brochures.

“After all of the bad weather that our area has experienced over the past few years, complete with power outages, flooding, and massive snowfalls, it is necessary to educate the community on what is available to them,” said West Point Acting Deputy Garrison Commander Charles Peddy.

Some of the agencies expected include Homeland Security, Federal Emergency Management Agency, New York State Emergency Management, New York State Red Cross, Orange County Sheriff Office, Orange County Department of Health and Cornwall Emergency Management and West Point Fire Department.

Non-DoD card holders will be required to check in at the Visitor Control Center located adjacent to the Visitors Center to be issued local access credentials to gain entry to the installation.
